As you will see in the examples below, there are various ways in which an aluminium repair on your boat can be completed. Some boats may just have a small crack that need a brief repair, however others may have more extensive damage. If there is some corrosion/leak developing on the outside of your boat then it is more than likely there is more going on under the floor area. Corrosion is nasty if left untreated however at Nautech Marine we ensure we inspect each boat thoroughly and give our best professional opinion on how it should be treated discussing this with the customer prior to proceeding. |
This hole was about the size of a 5 cent piece. It simply required a scab patch repair as seen.
Types of repair work;
Examples of corrosion are seen below. In the side-on image you can see how the corrosion gets right into the aluminium, weakening the strength of the metal and eventually creating a leak or small hole. Sometimes it is difficult to detect how far gone the corrosion is until it is ground back. If it is detected early, a standard pitting repair is all that is required. If it has corroded further, then a scab patch or insert repair will do the trick.
